| Recently a few of the developers from ArenaNet talked about the sequel to Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2, due to be published in 2010 or 2011, including its new and revamped engine, new PvP features, the lore and so on.
GuildWars employs neither a monthly fee subscription nor the free-to-play mode, but charge customers the one-time "box price," with no added fees or subscription for continued, which is based on their company philosophy: "be nice to the players and take out the things that stand between players and having fun immediately."
Because they want to be ambitious and do things in the game that we couldn't do with the existing engine, or with the existing infrastructure of the game, the team switches from the original game to the next sequel. And contrary to usual practice, they announced the news as soon as they made the decision. According to ArenaNet, the new engine will allow developers to take both the gameplay and visual aspects of Guild Wars into new territory. And the story is much personal now. While they used to tell story of the world, they now talked about story of a few characters. And the new skill system will focus on the quality not the quantity. |
